If you want it now, I don't think you'll regret getting the R6i. In comparison to the R6 I have in my hand, I don't really feel the need to upgrade it to the mark-2. One reason (though I wouldn't base it off this) that getting an R6ii, might be the support Canon 'might' give it.
If you want to make large prints, consider this: The 5D MkI has 12.8MP (4.368 x 2.912), the 5D MkII has 21,1MP (5.616 × 3.744). 12MB should be good for prints up to about 10.5"x13.5" (at 300dpi), 21MP is enough for 12"x19". You can print at less than 300dpi and no kittens or puppies will die.
